Ladies and Gentlemen

With a view to our rental car booking with the ref: 65731****, I would like to ask you to briefly check the contract regarding the pick-up this morning at PMI airport.

During the takeover at the counter, I pointed out energetically that I did not need or want any additional insurance. Full coverage taken out when booking through Ryanair is sufficient.

Unfortunately, the employee at the airport was contradictory in her statements, so I want to make sure that no special services were booked.

I therefore already object to any additional services that may have been booked against my express will.

I would be grateful for a brief answer.

sincerely

Regarding age of a driver

I have booked a car to be picked up at the airport in Rome, Italia Oct. 9.

I did not find any box to fill in my age. I am 78 years. Will that be any problem? I checked by AutoEurope and Rental cars.

They told me that that should not be any problem. Do you agree?

Car rented 6 months ago, they kept sending me different invoices for scratch that wasn't even on my car! I sent a video to prove it.

They still charged my account! No invoice, nothing. Nobody responded to any of my emails. This is ridiculous.

DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY. SCAM!!

Location : credit card

Hello,

My friend and I want to rent a car from Ljubljana airport (Slovenia). However, we noticed that a credit card was required to finalize the payments on site.

We don't have a credit card. We only have a debit card. So I have several questions:

- Are there alternatives to pay? For example: bank transfer, cash deposit, debit card, online payment?

- Is it possible to use someone else's credit card?

My friend's father has one and is willing to lend it to us. For example, can we pay online with and settle the last costs on the spot with a signed authorization from him saying that he is lending us the card?

Cordially,

Mr GARDE LANSARD Corentin

Cheated on the rent

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I should have paid 70 euro for an extra driver. Instead, i paid 200 euro for extra insurance that I have not ordered - i could not see that because I was spelled in Spanish as I was promised money back.

That i drove with extra driver without insurance for that could have been real expensive. All were very unfriendly when we picked up the car

Resolved: Scam in Roma airport - extra charge for nothing

Updated by user Oct 05, 2018

Rentalcars.com disputed the issue with Interrent and finally (after few nervous weeks of closing the issue because of no reply in time) fully refunded me

Original review Sep 05, 2018

I hire InterRent through Rentalcars.com from Roma airport, and I bought full coverage from them.

They take my credit card during pick-up for deposit (which is normal), and car was very quickly checked at drop-off time, and everything was looking good.

Later I find in my credit card bill two charges from InrerRent at the day of drop-off - EU150 and EU128.93.

I asked Rentalcars.com and they after long delay send me invoice from Interrent for "Premium Security Protection", 10 days of EU22.89 per day, which I - they said - purchased.

It is unnecessary to say I was not ever told about any additional coverage and for sure was decline any of it because of full coverage I bought! Furthermore, the invoice and credit card charge was issued at the day of drop-off, i.e. after I return the car!

After all InterRent is not replying to Rentalcars.com requests (at least that what Rentalcars.com tell me).

Now I'm trying to get my money back through my credit card company - wish me a luck!

Now I know - when I'll sign any paper, I'll write down clearly something like "I'm not agree to any additional product to purchase beyond what I already buy...", and for sure don't forget to make a picture (or any copy) of the hire contract like I did this time!

Contentious Damage Report and Abusive Repair Charge

After multiple hires at UK airports and despite few customer service disappointments I kept hiring from them because of price. However, after my last hire in March I have given up and I will not hire again. I don't recommend InterRent for the following reasons:

- I was charged for damage I am convinced I didn't do

- An abusive damage repair charge of GBP382 for a small superficial scratch on rear bumper (polisher and cloth would do)

- A strong need to generate revenue because I didn’t take the excess insurance. I had alternative cover.

- Staff with very poor customer service approach and worse customer retention vision

InterRent - Attention! Lowcost with hidden extras

Warning! they rent cars that do not comply with the French Highway Code.

My personal experience: After having recovered the vehicle and indicated all the defects on the report. I should have refused it because the registration plates were not perfectly legible. The white circle of "6" and "D" was detached. A police officer noted the violation and now that 5 months after the facts, Interrent sends me an email telling me that they named me as the origin of the facts and, note, they debit me 35 € of my bank card for administrative costs !!

And the amends was 90 €, but because of the delay it amounts to 375 €! Interrent subsidiary of Europcar never again !!!

Being cheated at Interrent in Porto

Actually the price was initially reasonable, for 9 days 87,- Euro, and that’s how they lure their customer. But then the sales person at Interrent in Porto lied by saying the upgrade would be 15,- Euro.

Interrent took off my visacard 166,- Euro (they charged 15,- Euro / day plus 23 % VAT). When I returned the car, the same day Interrent took off my Visacard another 60,70 Euro without any invoice or notice. My following emails were unanswered. Then, finally, somebody on the telephone explained me that this were the toll fees.

The sales person had lied again by saying, 1,50 Euro would be the flat rate for using the Via Verde highways in Portugal. The reality was, that those 1,50 Euro / day was only the fee for renting the device for the Via Verde. Then I asked for an invoice, with lots of effort, because they didn’t answer my emails. Finally I got them on the telephone again, and the sending of an invoice took another 3 weeks.

The amount on the invoice was still 7,- Euro lower than the one they took off of my Visacard (service charge ?). So I got cheated by Interrent of 226,70 Euro, and all complains were unanswered or rejected.

Money hungry rental car company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Rented a vehicle from Inverness airport. They didn't have anyone at their counter, rather someone from Europcar set us up with the vehicle.

They didn't bother to give us their complete terms and agreements which became a problem later on. The vehicle had a problem while we were using it. When we called them, they told us to fill up the necessary liquid and they would reimburse us on return. It took us 3 hours to find a location that stocked this liquid because it wasn't available at all stores.

When returning the vehicle a week later, (we filled up the tank on the way to the airport), the attendant that checked on the vehicle saw that we were a shade away from full and told us that we needed to pay for a full tank of gas. We took the matter up with the manager (who incidentally was the one who checked us in), and she confirmed that we were only short a little bit, as compared to the "not even close" determination made by the earlier attendant. About 3 weeks after we returned the vehicle, Interrent emailed us about a parking violation, asked us to pay it in addition to a 50 quid administration fee. They stated that we had agreed with their terms and sent us a copy.

Their terms didn't state a fee amount. We tried to get details on why their fee was so exorbitant, but they refused to work with us on the fee. We even escalated the matter to the BVRLA and they ruled in favour of the rental car company (no surprise there as after all the rental car companies pay them to be members, so we know which side their bread is buttered). Interrent is owned by Europcar.

Both companies obviously make money by charging unfair fees and are completely insensitive to their customers. It doesn't seem like they have actual people working for them, more like insensitive corporate drones.

Car Rental: NEVER USE Interrent

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

DO NOT BOOK. Long story short, we (and everyone else) have to *** in front of the Interrent desk for over 2 hours (TWO HOURS!) before getting the car. And we got ripped off 80€. Most people will "only" get ripped off 35€.

Want the long story? Interrent is part of Europcar. You don't know that until your booking is complete. Had I known I would not have booked. Europcar has long been out of consideration for me as they ripped me off more than once and one of their staff stole my laptop in Trapani.

Arriving at the airport I therefore go to the Europcar desk with Europcar-branded booking. I *** for a few minutes, and as soon as I show my reservation, the officer tells me I have to go to another desk. She actually shows me a plan. Out, left, straight, right, straight again, then right again and finally straight for a while and I'll see the Interrent office.

I take a sec to memorise the way, and here am I going to look for the Interrent desk lost in the middle of the car park. After a few minutes I spot a *** of around 20 people in the middle of the parking street. This is the Interrent 'kiosk'. I got in the *** thinking I'll be out of there in the next 15 min or so. After 5-10 minutes, a lady comes out of the kiosk and informs the latest comers that they had to take a numbered ticket. Yes, very much like at a busy butchery. So I follow her and take a ticket. I'm 30. The red number on the screen shows 18. Ouch. Hope it's not gonna take half an hour.

Half an hour is actually pretty much the time they need to process a single booking. Out of the 7 staff I counted in and in front of the kiosk, 2 are actually working, processing the bookings behind a computer. 1 of them is in charge of informing people they need to take a ticket, and show them where the ticket dispenser is. And the 4 remaining ones are there to answer the questions "How long is it going to take?" and "Why is it so slow?" with "We don't know" and "There is nothing we can do". No smile, no apologies, no seats, nothing. Did I mention I was travelling with my wife and 9 months old daughter? Thankfully the most patient and easy-going child ever.

After making a couple of new friends in the ***, going back to the airport to buy water (straight, left, straight, left again, straight, right...I will spare you the way back), after a few angry men got the staff even less friendly, and, most importantly after a full dozen of actual Europcar customers got to skip the *** to get their car in less than a minute, the number 30 pops up on the screen. A weirdly joyful moment. Obviously not worth the wait.

Now, I face the least friendly staff of the country (Spain). The guy doesn't look at me, he's bored as ***, fed up of being yelled at, and knows that if we lock eyes, I'm right, he's wrong. So he just types stuff. After a while I was actually wondering what he could be typing that was so long, and was requiring so much wait in between every bunch of words. Nevermind. I just want to get out, and start my holiday. A few minutes later he printed a paper and showed me where to sign. That paper said I was going to pay 132€ in addition to the £97 booking. Surprised, I asked him to break it down for me. He barely pointed at 3 lines saying "Fuel", "Servicios" and "Baby Seat". OK, a few things here.

I knew they give you the car with the tank full, and you give it back empty. So you pay for the fuel upfront, and they refund you for what's left when you give the car back. A way for them to make a margin on the fuel when selling it, and again when buying it back. But I knew that, so I let it go.

What I did not know however is that they charge you 35€ to actually put the fuel in the car. Literally the service of filling up the tank. In Tenerife, you can eat the best paella ever at Aqua y Sal for 32€, for 2. And I'm not going the enumerate every amazing thing you can do for 32€ in Tenerife, but getting your tank filled by Interrent is not one of them. But I've just waited 2 hours and 13 minutes, this is the only car I've booked, and the only solution available to get the three of us and all of our luggage to the hotel 60km up north, so it's hard to say no at this stage, isn't it?

Now the remaining charge is for the baby seat. It's 4.5€ per day. I rented the car for 10 days so 45€. That may seem normal, and I would have paid it without problem if that hadn't been hidden for the whole booking process. When booking online, you chose your dates, then your car. That gives you a price. Then you are able to add options such as Insurance or Baby seat. When adding insurance, the total amount changes to reflect the addition of the new service. When adding the baby seat, nothing changes. It looks like this is complimentary. Like many things are with babies. Her plane ticket was free. Her stay at the hotel was free. The extra cot in the room was free. So why not the baby seat in the car. So I asked "How come this wasn't mentioned when I booked it?". The cold answer without lifting the head came quick "It was probably in the terms and conditions". Hum... Probably? It was PROBABLY in the terms and conditions? Truth is, I'm sure it was. That was exactly my answer to him. So let me get this straight. I should have assumed that you were trying to rip me off by including hidden fees in the small prints, and therefore read the full 20 pages of it? Is that it? And then? Find out you WERE ACTUALLY RIPPING ME OFF, and...? Still rent the car? Really? That's what you expect your customers to do? Well, trust me, I will never rent again with you, Interrent.

Oh, and by the way, these 132€ exclude VAT. That you find out when you receive the invoice ... AFTER you gave the car back.

That was yesterday. Drop-off was at the same time as pickup, 6pm. There was a long *** and the number 15 was displayed. I thought of the poor number 27 who won't be out before 8.30pm. It seems that among the 7 staff, no one is available to tell you where to park the car. So you park it as close as where you took it. After a short while (we had a lot of luggage, prom etc.) an employee comes to check the car. The one we had was as smiling and as kind as the guy who registered us 10 days earlier. Her first words were "Keys and contracts". Her next and last were "OK, good. Bye".

Mine are "Never again!"

Interrent ripped off after 3 monts, obvious robbery

i rented a vehicle on 3th November 2016 from INTERRENT and delivered back on 4th of November 2016. I paid all the expenses at the time and also the cost of extra warranties covering for all kind risky situations.

It was a totally ripped off but since i was aware of that it is OK and this complaint is not about that. After so much time, on 27th of Feb 2017, i saw two cost items in my credit card list incidentally. Both of them were 35.-Euro. So in total 70.-Euro charged to my credit card.

What was the reason for that??? Still i have no idea why after so much time this expense reflected to my credit card. I have sent my request for receiving 70.-Euro as soon as possible.

No answers so far. At first the prices may seem cheaper, but do not mistakenly chose this one.
